** 2023 Update: Inflation and rising costs to the City have taken a toll on the cost to provide services to our customers.  Operating costs have increased due to the price of labor, supplies, materials and increasing regulatory requirements. The City Council is committed to managing those costs and staying efficient while upholding the City’s commitment to a sustainable future.

The water, wastewater, light and power, and stormwater rates will increase by 9.6% respectively beginning on the December 16, 2022 through January 15, 2023 billing cycle and going forward through 2023.   The ambulance rate for services will increase by 4.5%.

All rate increases (excluding ambulance rates which are capped at 4.5%) are based on adjustments consistent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) average between all US Cities and the CPI for our region (Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton) which was adopted by resolutions over the course of the last several years.  The total of the new rates is expected to increase the monthly utility bill for a typical single-family home by an average range of $25.00 to $35.00 a month.  This is an annual adjustment that takes place each December based on the CPI, but is higher than normal due to inflation and other factors.
