Utility Billing

Customers will receive a bill around the beginning of the month. Payment is due on the 15th of each month. Payments are considered delinquent if not received by the DUE DATE shown on each bill. Failure in the mailing system is not an excuse for untimely payment. A penalty of 5% shall be assessed against all past due amounts each month.

Payments

  • Cash is accepted in person at City Hall. Please do not mail cash.
  • Checks are accepted in person or by mail. Please make checks payable to – City of McCleary.
  • A drop box is located in front of City Hall for your convenience.
  • Debit/Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard) are accepted in person or by phone.

Non-Payment Disconnects

If your bill has not been paid in FULL prior to receiving your next bill, you have until the second Monday of the month prior to 10:00 am to pay the back bill. If not paid by 10:00 am, the past due amount plus a $20 Service Fee is due. Services will be disconnected by City Staff for non-payment and remain disconnected until the past due amount plus the $20 Service Fee is paid. There will be a disconnection/reconnection charge accessed of $50 after 4:00 PM. It is unlawful for a customer to turn on or off a meter or tamper with City property in any manner.

Non Sufficient Funds (NSF) Checks

A service charge of $32 will be charged directly to your utility account for any check returned by the bank for non-sufficient funds. This may also result in immediate disconnection of services. Multiple returned checks will result in the suspension of your check writing privileges and require utility payments in Cash or Credit/Debit Cards only.

Change of Occupancy

The customer of record that requested service is responsible for all charges on the account until the City has been officially notified of any changes. Please notify the Utility Billing Department when you will no longer require services or you will continue to be billed until notification is received.

Home Owners

If you rent your property, you are responsible for having the water/power turned on and off when there is a change in renters.  Failure to notify the City that the water/power is to be turned off when a change occurs will result in additional charges.
